Wilson's Boatyard lies on the eastern side of Hayling Island within the Chichester Harbour Conservancy Area and fronting on to Mengham Rythe, a very well sheltered tidal creek. It is in this area where we have one group of fore and aft moorings with another at the eastern end of the approach channel.
As a boatyard, Wilson's first came into its own just after the end of World War Two when yachting became more affordable and boats more numerous. To cater for this increasing demand, the grandfather of the present owners began to offer a few moorings and hauled boats ashore for winter storage. The 1970s saw a period of major change both in the numbers of craft and the methods of handling them and the expertise built up over the last forty years allows our customers to take comfort from the careful way in which their craft will be handled.
The yard's Managing Director is David J Wilson, his brother Barrie is the Yard Operations Director with the permanent staff being Shawn Jackson and Ann Abra who looks after the office.
